Harrah's Grand Casino in Gulfport was been bought by Gulfside Casino Partnership in March 2006 and over the next few months residents will see extensive renovations in the new casino project.
The new state of the art casino is due to open in September 2006 under the name Island View Casino Resort, to reveal and grander more spacious operation.
More plans to extend the gaming facilities have been approved and will be undertaken in the second half of the year, to be completed in March 2007.
The second half of the phase will extend the casino floor to bring the total gaming space up to 83,000 square feet, to allow for more gaming facilities and increase and improve the restaurant areas giving an 8,300 square feet buffet to sit 350 diners and with live action food stations. The hotel will feature 500 newly designed luxury bedrooms.
When the casino re opens in September approximately 800 staff members will be employed with a further 500 added when the hotel is completed in March. The Island View Casino is a permanent and popular fixture in the Gulfport community and will provide much needed employment for the area. |
