After a long attempt, a £12 million design to create Europe's first racecourse casino in Wolverhampton has been turned down. People involved in the plan are wondering why that is. It was nonetheless to say a shock.
The decision was announced by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, today. It seems he is trying to preserve the green belt status. The development may bring advantages to Dunstall Park racecourse, but it is the green belt that is more important.
The project was meant to include doubling the size of the place’s 52-bedroom Holiday Inn hotel. The project was backed, earlier, just to be dismissed. The backed project was against the advice of officers, over a year and a half ago. |
