E-Services Try to Learn Lessons From E- Survey. 2005-07-26
The Interactive Gaming Council (IGC) is conducting a survey prepared by Rohan Miller, a professor at the University of Sydney, School of Business, in Australia, if their internet transactions were due to gambling or banking business. Dr. Miller’s goal is to check the confidence or lack thereof in using e-commerce sites.
Rick Smith, Executive Director of the IGC says that online gaming is a division of e-commerce. The survey will be important to know what the consumers are looking for when it comes to money usages over the net. It will give the leaders of online companies an insight on what to do to better secure their site, to invite other consumers in. After all consumers look for positive clues in order to enter a site at all.
The survey, which is on the internet, takes 5 to 15 minutes to complete. Result percentages will be published in the academic literature for the future. The survey began July 11th 2005 and is still underway for the next month.
The IGC in the recent past has strengthened its Code of Conduct. At its meeting last month, the IGC Board of Directors approved the revising the code, for the first time in five years. The new code states that, to ensure fairness, operators should do regular analyzes of the games. This also requires members to utilize anti-money scam dealings, as well as identity services, as part of their efforts, to restrict minor’s usage of these sites.
