Gaming Commission Accepts Gaming Regulations. 2005-08-01
The Nevada Gaming Commission has now accepted new gaming regulations that will shorten the course for altering surveillance systems. This will allow slot producers to transport devices out of state to sites that allow gaming and slot machines in local liquor stores. State regulations already allow slots at bars, convenience stores; grocery stores; and drug stores, where alcohol is served. A maximum of seven slot machines are permitted at convenience stores, only four are allowed at liquor stores under the new regulation. The regulation was enacted simply to help casino companies alter their machines to allow them to transfer tools to sister estates outside of Nevada.
The new regulations became effective immediate after debated upon at hearings by the Commission and the State Gaming Control Board. Manufacturers and casinos have been concerned that technological changes in surveillance develop and change so fast that they also need to keep up. That is what they are trying to do with this new regulation.
One of the approved amendments speaks about the adoption of surveillance standards even for non restricted licensees. Surveillance system standards won’t be changed by this amendment, but the process of endorsing them will be. Previous regulations took up to five months to endorse, the new amendment allows for two months to endorse.
Under the amended system, the board chairman will be able to publish proposals for the standards, and receive testimony on the subject matter. The new regulation also approves the distribution of gaming devices outside of the state of Nevada, and permits manufacturers and distributors to ship equipment to persons licensed for it. This has to be acceptable to federal, state or tribal gaming regulatory authorities or law agencies as well as authorized testing laboratories. Other details on the amendment around the shipped devices, and their dates are still required to be presented to the Gaming Control Board chairman.
