Daniel Bucci and Nigel Potter are back in the news for the Lincoln Park Case, this time they are in court. Bucci is considered the assailant the bribery conspiracy case with his former general manger and boss Nigel Potter. Prosecutors are now presenting their case against the Lincoln Park employees.
Last Wednesday, after the closing argument, a federal prosecutor said the video slot machines would have made millions if the bribe too place. The bribe was to pay $1 million to former House Speaker John B. Harwood's law firm. Bucci's lawyer, Anthony M. Traini, told jurors the case is all about reasonable doubt.
The jury began their deliberation shortly after listening to closing arguments from both lawyers. Jurors also heard the prosecution's rebuttal, receiving instructions from U.S. District Judge Mary M. Lisi. A conclusion looks like it might come soon to this case.
Lincoln Park’s Bucci and Potter are charged with conspiring to bribe Harwood with up to $4 million, over five years, in order that he adds more video slots and to block a Narragansett Indian Casino from expansion and competition. The jury deadlocked on most charges in a trial, in February, and the retrial moved from Providence to Worcester because of publicity. Soon the case will meet a lustful end, whatever that means for the parties involved. |
