The CEO Head of United Industrial Corporation, Mr. Lim Hock San, has another job to add to his resume. He has now been appointed as the Chairman of the National Council on Problem Gambling.
He will head a 15 member team with professional expertise on public communications, counseling and rehabilitation. All of this is to be a test run over the next two years, beginning now. The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports are looking forward to this new addition. It was announced in April by the government something had to be done about problem gambling.
The council will give its recommendations to the ministry on public education programs to encourage public consciousness on problem gambling. It will additionally determine how to back preventive and rehabilitative programs. The council will also decide on who is eligible to play according to the Casino Control Act, when it is put in place. |
