In West Virginia video gambling parlors are big, but that is soon to stop. Cities in the state are trying to slow them down. The city of Wheeling will be slowing the expansion down of these parlors. City council unanimously voted to restrict new parlors from even entering the city.
The ordinance prevents any parlor from one-thousand feet of an existing one, a school, church or playground. There are already enough, new ones do not need to be developed here in this small area. The council members agree this was a good move. Right now there are 91 places in city where gambling exists. There are two exemptions in the ordinance voted on, because those areas are poorly inhabited. This is downtown and industrial zoned areas. |
