Busan plans to crack down on spreading gambling arcades, as well as tightening laws on operations. In November they will also include their school police system to curb crime, and violence. These issues were discussed during a Cabinet meeting headed by Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan.
Arcades have hastily increased, causing many serious problems. There are 1,000 arcades made annually for a total of 14,991 game rooms. Today there are 1,832 for juvenile offenders and 13,159 for adult offenders.
The police authorities will start a special investigation into arcades including their money flow, distribution, and registration, as well as the prizes they claim to give away. The National Police Agency will also attend 140 schools nationwide from Nov. 2005 to April 2006, as a test run to keep an eye on youth gamblers. Their will even be counseling services for children and adults. |
