The Rangers plan to create a £200 million super-casino. It will be a place for footballers, and others will be able to have a real good time. Executives at the football club have been given planning permission finally.
Ibrox building will be the location for all this fun. It will include a 140-bed hotel, conference center, store, entertainment complex and a community center with a floodlit rooftop. The casino will be located opposite the Ibrox with some 300 new homes around a major boulevard named the Ibrox Way.
Glasgow City Council gave the go ahead for the Govan/ Las Vegas partnership. This will help created the UK's first regional super-casino. The Las Vegas Sands is bidding to receive permission for the building of this property. The Las Vegas Sands owns the hotel made famous by Sinatra's "Rat Pack."
In the area there is a 14% rate of unemployment, which would improve by building a casino. This would mean 2,000 new jobs. This in a development that would cost £1.5 million
The UK is planning six regional casinos; the hope is that one will be in Glasgow Scotland. Only last week, the council tried to actively promote Glasgow for the casino. This projected casino that would rake in £30 million a year here.
Ranger’s Chairman, David Murray, as well as Bill Weidner, President of Las Vegas Sands, added are both pleased, and are hoping for the best. The Ibrox plan is one of three proposed projects in the area. The Scottish Conference and Exhibition Centre wants to build a casino there also with a famous Las Vegas hotel chain. Another wants to build a casino by the riverside. All three depend on the Government's Gambling Act 2005, which provides for authorization of such ventures.
An independent advisory panel will make their recommendations for next year, if and where they should be built. The city is hoping to promote economy, as well as tourism to their lovely city. In order to make this all possible, the city will additionally create programs to help people who deal with gambling addictions. |
