The demand for casinos to come back in the Gulf Coast is high, and not just for floating casinos. It’s so high in fact; those former employees of fallen casinos are coming back not to deal cards, but to deal in for construction. They are being trained to rebuild their places of work, like Casino Magic Biloxi.
The casino through Pinnacle Entertainment, is offering construction jobs to the employees through their contractor, Manhattan Construction Co. This is the same company that built their $365 million L'Auberge du Lac Hotel and Casino in Lake Charles. Casino Magic Biloxi's gambling barge was destroyed in Katrina, as well as the hotel.
Charlie Myers, the Manhattan representative teaching the safety class, said the rebuilding would be a slower process. It would be slower because it is rebuilding something that already exists, and by inexperienced contractors. Again it is all better than constructing something from nothing. |
