Alcorn State University now has the go-ahead for a new course and studies program. The program will be a graduate degree in hospitality and gaming management. That study will be part of the schools executive MBA program. ASU President Clinton Bristow Jr. announced this all proudly at the beginning of the week.
Classes are set to begin soon. This could begin as soon as fall 2006. Dr. Steve Wells, Associate Dean for Graduate Business Programs at the Natchez campus, said it was a unique idea. An idea he says, that will come to them first. It will be helpful in the growing community.
At their monthly meeting last week, The Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning approved the ASU program. Bristow couldn’t be more proud of the situation. They are already discussing the curriculum.
The curriculum will consist of business-level courses as part of the MBA. The MBA is geared toward hospitality and gaming managers. They are not prepared to train someone to repair machines or deal black jack, which is not what the program is about claimed Wells. |
