The Almaden Business Association was shocked when the Attorney General's office put a stop to this. They stated that creating such an event was illegal, no matter for what cause it may be for.
Organizers of the event were upset upon receiving a letter which called the for the cancellation of the Texas Hold 'Em tournament. It took great deal of planning, and was the only fundraising event available for them. The letter was sent only three days before the event, so there was no time to replace it in time.
