The owners of Sun City Casino Resort in South Africa are bringing in black shareholders to their company. Something that since apartheid didn’t happen is now happening. According to Sun International, they have agreed to sell 7% of their shares to black investors. This deal is supposedly worth 604 million Rand ($90.1 million).
The South African government has put pressure on many companies to allow equal employment with blacks, so that there is a balance in the country. Sun International is also offering employment for other casino projects that will be coming up in the future. Sun International, has always been against apartheid, and has created controversy when that was in play.
Sun International is South Africa's largest casino. The growth of South Africa's black middle class may be the reason for the rising popularity of these casino complexes. The Sun is the most visited each day, and is making lots of money, money they can share with stockholders. |
