Florida state lawmakers are planning to meet next week to discuss slot regulations. They would like to figure out Hollywood regulations once and for all. The city needs to decide on where they stand and will this time; at least it is all hoped for.
Roger Desjarlais, a former Broward County administrator will be in Tallahassee early Monday to join the Hollywood team. In October, he worked as the chief operations officer at the firm of lawyer/lobbyist Bill Scherer. Hollywood hired his company, Conrad & Scherer, in February specifically for this issue.
Hollywood officials feel the pari-mutuels should help with the city’s profits. None so far have, and there are four slot approved sites. Three may be in neighboring cities, but the fourth will be in their domain, and if the other three haven’t helped their cities, how will Hollywood’s help them? |
