Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Azalina Othman Said has some ideas of where the profits from gambling should go to. He is hoping that the money will go to sponsor sports activities, but nothing is signed and sealed. This should be discussed before approval to make sense of it all.
Cabinet Committee for Sports, chaired by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak claimed that anyone interested in pursuing this should send a written document that would be up for discussion. Like any bill or law has to be discussed, if it may be approved. Chances could be high, because Said really wants to help an important cause.
He is hoping in some way or another, the money will go to help The Fespic Games (Far East and South Pacific Games) for disabled athletes. The games are to be held next year, and they could use funding. Gambling sponsorship, if it would be accepted could bring the team RM25 million. Still if this is even going to occur this has to be in detailed writing before it can be discussed, and possibly approved. |
