Las Vegas may not be the first or last to produce counterfeit money, but one case the bills looked so real. They looked so real that businesses are now suffering from deficit. $100 bills were found in strip casinos amongst other places, and now the federal and state authorities are on it.
Paul Masto, Assistant Special Agent in charge of the U.S. Secret Service office in Las Vegas claims counterfeit finds are nothing new. When there is so much cash going around, there is more chance to find these types of bills. $50,000- $70,000 counterfeit bills are found each week, in each town.
The only way to fight against this is having some sore of currency validation method. It could be special equipment on slot machines, or casino representatives knowing the difference between a counterfeit bill, and a real one. That is the casinos only method against this type of crime. |
